The Batesville Downtown Foundation was founded in January 2015.  It was formed to provide the sustainability needed to ensure that the work being done to revitalize and preserve the downtown is continued.  It will assist in raising funds to be distributed to elements of downtown that are a part of the revitalization effort.  The by-laws require that at least four (4) members of the twelve (12) member Board of Trustees be residents outside of the city of Batesville and within Independence County. 

The Foundation will allow persons desiring to have their legacy ensured with an endowment for a project downtown will now have that opportunity.  These opportunities can include such things as a yearly-sponsored concert at either the Landers or Melba theaters.  All donations made to the Foundation are federal-tax exempt.  A list of potential endowment activities is available at the Main Street Batesville office.  Call the executive director, Joel Williams, at 698-1555 for the list or for any other information desired concerning the Foundation.
